Summer Choice Share

Now You Have A Choice!

Customize your CSA share to fit your families needs. HCF's Summer Choice Share is designed to give added flexibility to you while still maintaining the many benefits that community supported agriculture offers the farmer. Each week during the summer growing season you will be able to choose from a "pick list" exactly what you want (of course depending on what is in season).

The choice share stays true to the CSA model in that the produce is seasonal and is grown by us (sorry but no tomatoes or melons in June!), fits within the idea of "shared risk-shared reward", and benefits the farmer and consumer alike with a steady production and purchasing schedule.

How Does the Choice Share Work?

The Friday before your share delivery, you will receive an email with a pick list of what is available for the coming week. You simply choose the eight items (units, which may be each, or by weight, or as a unit) that you would like in your box for that week and return the pick list to us by Sunday noon.

Once we have your selections, we harvest to fill your order. When it comes time to pick up your share at your selected drop site, you simply take the box with your name on it and return your empty box from the previous week. If an order is not placed within the given time window, you will receive a standard CSA share for that week.

Can I Order More of Certain Items?

In many instances, yes, but only to a point! Basically we want to ensure that all CSA members share in the bounty so we will place limits on certain items when needed. What this might look like is strawberries come in a pint box (that is the unit). In order to make sure that everyone gets their portion, we might limit Choice Share members to 2 units for a particular week. You really like strawberries (who doesn't), so you would use 2 of your 8 choices on strawberries.

Most often, limits will be on specialty crops in short supply or during the early and later parts of a particular crops season (such as when cucumbers first get started, their numbers are limited, and then suddenly we have more cukes than we can sell). Limits may also be placed on items just due to packing limitations (think pumpkins, winter squash, etc.).
